Summer or not, Puerto Galera is the go-to destination for quick beach getaways.
Aside from its proximity–it’s less than four hours from Manila–Puerto Galera is also chockfull of things to do, from snorkeling and diving, to jetskiing, swimming, and other water sports.
There are waterfalls, good food, and an increasing number of adventurous sports and activities that are sure to be enjoyed by visitors of all ages.
While I never have to use a hotel when I go to Puerto Galera (I used to work in a non-profit for children that’s based there), a lot of people do ask me for my recommended places to stay.
If you, too, are wondering where to stay in Puerto Galera, take a look at some of my suggestions.
Tamaraw Beach Resort
Tamaraw Beach Resort is my number one choice, located as it is off White Beach, just a 10-minute walk away.
Big on recreation, this beachfront hotel has an outdoor pool, a tennis court, and equipment for motorized water sports (e.g., boating) as well as snorkeling and windsurfing.
Accommodation-wise, you can get rooms (and huts!) with a safe deposit box, cable television, balcony, and fully equipped kitchen. There’s also an al fresco restaurant and a coffee shop on site, along with barbecue facilities. If you need a large space for meetings or gatherings, the resort has you covered too.
Sunset at Aninuan Beach Resort
Located right next to Tamaraw, Sunset at Aninuan is for people who don’t mind paying just a bit more for a very comfortable stay.
The rooms are gorgeous, and they have the perfect lounges for watching the sunset. There’s a pool too, as well as an outdoor bar and a dive shop. They can arrange any water sports activity for you, and you will even have free use of their kayaks, one of the must-do activities when you’re in Puerto Galera.
Marco Vincent Dive Resort
If you’re a diving enthusiast and you prefer to stay nearer White Beach where the action is at, Marco Vincent Dive Resort is the perfect place for you.
This resort runs a world-class dive center for all skill levels, on top of providing well-appointed accommodations. All 38 of its rooms are clean, spacious, and equipped with modern amenities (including hot and cold showers, air conditioner, refrigerator, cable TV and Wi-Fi).
Guests are also treated to a nice swimming pool and Jacuzzi, along with an area where you can play billiards. The beach is five minutes away.
Bamboo House Beach Lodge & Restaurant
As you’ve probably guessed, the Bamboo House Beach Lodge uses traditional bamboo constructions in its 16 rooms, making for a lovely, cozy and tranquil retreat far from the crowds and with free Wi-Fi to boot.
It also offers boat, bike, and car rentals to guests interested in exploring the area, plus free transfers to and from the port.
Apart from a beachfront restaurant specializing in intercontinental fare, you can order drinks from the hotel’s mini-bar and enjoy some karaoke while you’re there.
White Beach Lodge & Restaurant
White Beach Lodge & Restaurant is located near the middle of White Beach, about 20 meters from the shoreline.
Spanning 3,000 square meters, it is one of the biggest resorts in the area and includes a wide lawn, restaurant, conference hall, henna/tattoo shop, barbecue facilities, and kiosks.
The main compound has 59 rooms and the annex has 12. You will find air conditioning, cable TV, and free Wi-Fi in each room. Quite a find, eh?
Mendelluke Suites
Mendelluke Suites sits near the end of White Beach, so it’s a nice quiet haven from the crowds and yet a short walk away from the hippest bars and restaurants.
While it’s a budget hotel, you can expect to find an air conditioner, shower heater, refrigerator, safety deposit box, and flat-screen TV with cable in many of the rooms. Clean and spacious, the rooms also allow free Wi-Fi access.
VM Beach Resort
Located just 300 meters from White Beach, the budget-friendly VM Beach Resort is four minutes away from the sand and sea. It has over 50 rooms, all with complimentary Wi-Fi (you can also enjoy free Wi-Fi at the hotel’s public areas).
The air-conditioned units include a shower and cable TV, and the in-house restaurant serves Filipino cuisine. Room service is provided, along with massage and tattoo services. There’s also a nearby volleyball court, in case you’d like to spend some time playing.
Summer Connection Beach Resort
Summer Connection is a charming little escape from the hustle and bustle of White Beach’s crowded stretches. Its nipa huts, in particular, are lovely and relaxing. Well-lit and romantically chic, they come with a spacious bathroom and a scenic balcony (plus free Wi-Fi).
If you’re up for some action, the beach’s sports and party scenes are easily accessible on foot. You can also count on the resort to take you on sightseeing tours around Puerto Galera.
La Solana Suites & Resort
La Solana Suites is packed with the comforts of home and a variety of value-added facilities and services, making for a fun and relaxing stay. The rooms are air-conditioned and include a desk, shower and free Wi-Fi.
Room service is available 24/7, and you can also request for massage treatments and laundry assistance. In addition, the resort hosts pools, a business center, a concierge plus a bar and restaurant.
Manalo’s Lodge
A two-minute walk from White Beach, Manalo’s Lodge provides 24-hour customer assistance (i.e., front desk support, housekeeping) and an express check-in/check-out option.
You can also look forward to nice clean rooms, free Wi-Fi, large meal servings at the in-house restaurant, a shared kitchen, barbecue facilities, and shuttle, laundry and massage services.
Looking for a place to stay in Puerto Galera can be overwhelming because of the sheer number of hotels and resorts available. With this list, you’ll be off to a good start and on your way to an amazing vacation.

Thank you very much for this, Aleah! Sheila and I are going to Manila this September, and our plan includes enjoying the beach and diving in Puerto Galera (how are the dive sites there?). This will really help us plan our accommodations!
