Philippine Airlines (PAL) is on a roll in promoting its services.
The company has just come up with the first ever membership-prepaid card rolled into one — the Mabuhay Miles Travel Card.
This membership card not only allows you to book your flights online, it can also be used to shop and dine anywhere in the world; it is, after all, accepted in 150 countries!
Together with several other travel and lifestyle bloggers, I attended the recent launching of the Mabuhay Miles Travel Card in Cebu City and listened to PAL President and COO Jaime Bautista and AVP of Loyalty Program Mayette Cassanova explain about the features of the card.
What I love most about the new Mabuhay Miles Travel Card is that it can be loaded with up to ten currencies: PH peso, US$, British pounds, Euro, HK$, Canadian $, Singaporean $, Chinese yuan, Australian $, and Japanese yen.
So if you used to suffer from foreign exchange fluctuations from changing your dollars to whatever local currency of the country you’re visiting, the MM travel card provides the answer. Just load it up with the appropriate currency before leaving the Philippines, and you’re good to go.
The new MM travel card can be used for both online and offline transactions, too, in establishments where UnionPay International is recognized.
I tried it in Cebu the next day. It was my sister’s birthday and I treated the whole family (plus a couple of her friends) to dinner at Laguna Cafe.
When it came time to pay our P3,000+ bill, I presented the card. The manager didn’t recognize it (the MM card was pretty new) but when she saw the UnionPay logo at the back, it became a non-issue.
I also used it to shop for a pair of pants that I wanted to use in Spain, and the transaction at H&M was smooth.
Indeed, aside from being a tastefully designed prepaid membership card that’s eye candy for your wallet, the Mabuhay Miles Travel Card seems to be a very convenient way to earn and redeem miles for free stuff or free flights.
These classic benefits come on top of the discounts and privileges that you will be getting through seasonal promos, including discounted flights. The more you use your Mabuhay Miles Travel Card, the more benefits and points you will earn.
